Print preview does not work in Thunderbird. Messages output to printer are too small to read. How do I fix this?

I am running the latest versions of Windows 10 and Thunderbird. When I right click on the message body and then click on Print Preview nothing happens. I am running the latest versions of Windows 10 and Thunderbird. When I right click on the message body and then click on Print the output that my printer produces is so small I can't read it.

use Alt+F to open the file menu.

Select page setup from that menu and check the scaling. it should normally be 100% with no shrink to fit selected.

When you print, click the properties beside the printer name. check the paper size your printer is set to use.

Thanks for the input Matt. I found that this solution posted a few years ago by Ken15 solved my problem (I also needed to adjust the scaling):


Thanks tanstaafl, and all. Solution provided by a computers-savvy friend. I fixed the problem by using Thunderbird's config editor, accessed by going to Tools>Options. I then selected the Advanced panel and its General tab, and clicked Config Editor. Warned that I might void the warranty, I promised to be careful! In the Search field, I typed print_printer. Right-clicking on the line print_printer, I selected Reset. This got rid of faulty information about which printer I was using (my old Canon printer, not my new Brother printer). Then I exited. The Print Preview function was now working. Phew!
