Every few days now, I open my browser to find a black screen and I have to reset all my own preferences again, untick 'highlights' and 'tips' re-tick restore previous session/top sites - everything. I've uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it, removed the user data files and cache but it won't stop doing it - it's exasperating. Is there something I haven't ticked or unticked that is making this do this all the time please? I'm not a techy, so be gentle...

Thank you Tyler. I will do that and wait a few days to see if it does it again.

Please update to Firefox 68, and let me know if you still see this issue.

If you lost personal data then it is possible that a new default-release profile folder has been created. See "Determine if Firefox has created a new profile":

You can open the about:profiles page via the location bar to check whether multiple profiles are present and what profile Firefox currently is using.

Thank you Cor-el. I shall wait and see if Tyler's suggestion works but if not, I shall do as you suggest.
