Thunderbird hangs on start, showing connected to pop3 status and "not responding" sign at the top

After a weird mishap with the Windows Time service (main computer clock showed the real time minus 2 hours and the right time for the second clock) the time now shows normal value but Thunderbird now hangs on the start every time. It shows "connected to pop3..." status at the bottom and "not responding" sign at the top. Disabling the Defender gives nothing. Neither adding Thunderbird to the firewall's allowed apps list. The only way I've got the Thunderbird to react to anything was by disabling the network adapter. Then I was able to move/read something there before it hanged again. I suppose it is network related issue and I am not sure it is related or not to the mishap with Windows Time but at the moment Thunderbird is non operational. Is it fixable?

in my case disabling the indexing does the trick of getting the Thunderbird up and running again.

yes, just uncheck that mark on indexing of the profile's folder and confirm for all files and sub directories and that is all to it.

Try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled. - Win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode. - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode

Does the problem go away?

nope, it has the very same behavior as in normal mode - i.e. just hangs. in the normal mode it waits for some network i/o to finish something. sometimes it waits for more then one thing like the dwm pictured (when I click at the main window a few times and it shows grayed out). please find attached pics

thank you christ1 for the link and your willingness to help, i appreciate it. the thunderbird is fully operational when the network is off and it hangs all the time when the net is switched back on. same behavior under the safe mode. it really looks like a mishap with the pop server connection (perhaps on the time sync level?) inside the thunderbird. at the same time when TB hangs, all other programs have absolutely no problem accessing/using the network so it is not about the protocol nor connection to the network.

memory usage looks normal no mater thunderbird is in non responsive/responsive state. in non responsive state Thunderbird still waits for the network i/o to finish something, which kind of supports my conclusion.

ok, great, but how to fix this mishap?

ok so to recup https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1083233 "So when a profile or mail folder is moved from the default location, there's nothing Thunderbird can do to protect you against Microsoft's or other vendor's change in behavior. In other words if your data is not in %appdata% then all bets are off. There can also be bad consequences if %temp% has been moved, but I forget what they are just now. In both cases, you can get hammered by both AV and other software."

fantastic. i don't get one thing, TB works initially for a long time in the same environment but then suddenly decides not to, it is not the bug of TB but Microsoft's and it's indexing services.

so, basically what TB's support says is - if you have to change default location of the TB's profile (SSD as a system disk) then you better use the Outlook. i would say it is childish as support goes, but if that is a solution then my guess i have no other choice... kind of shame though.
