Means your system is too old and unsafe to use PayPal. If you want to access any future online Payments sources they require your system to be a updated O/S along with latest Browser to access their site for Security and Privacy protection. As for computer knowledge you will need to talk to computer shop to help you upgrade and understand some computer terminology as well. There are local books from your local library to learn more about modern computing to give you better hands on so you can get more from your computer.
does this mean i need a new computer, or just some hardware/software additions to mine ???
You can use this free program to check for SSE2: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
As far as upgrading that PC, it can be costly if the motherboard needs to be changed and that would necessary to install a newer SSE2 processor if yours doesn't have SSE2. Plus a newer motherboard may need newer RAM; another cost to contend with. Then there's the cost of a new operating system; XP hasn't been supported with updates for over 4 years now. I doubt if there is an up-to-date web browser out there that provides support for WinXP any longer. And for a one-off purchase of Windows 10 for an older PC you could be looking at ~ $100.
IMO, look for a a re-furbished PC to minimize the cost of upgrading if that would be a major stumbling block for you. I'm a senior citizen, too; so I know where you're coming from. Start looking from this Google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=re-furbished+PC&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8num=100
I have seen re-furbished PC's for as little as $175 for very basic PC's, and that includes Windows 10.
Locally, look to stores like
The only way to use a newer version of Firefox on your old hardware is if you use a light Linux distro as unlike Windows (dropping at 49.0), Firefox on Linux as of 53.0 and later dropped support for the old CPU's that did not support SSE2. This means you can use the Firefox 52 ESR with last major update 52.9.0esr out on June 26.
Not sure if you have any places where you are however there are some recycle centres in US and Canada that clean up bit older office computers or such with Windows 7 or newer sell for pretty cheap. I wish there was a Freegeeks like the one in Vancouver nearby as then getting computer parts could be easier and cheap.
