I had a rogue email that kept re-sending filling up my inbox.

I received a thousand spam emails from the same email address - I think a website I regularly use had been hacked. All these rogue emails clogged up my inbox so I couldn't receive regular emails. I deleted them, then set a filter that moved any emails from this address to be filtered off my server. I also unsubscribed from the original website. Now I get 130 emails coming in, which are immediately filtered but there is still no room for my regular emails. How can I get my emails, without changing address? Thanks.

You mention a filter - was this on the server/webmail interface? That is, can you get them removed before they are offered to Thunderbird?

Are they really being deleted? In Gmail, for instance, it's quite hard to actually delete things; they tend to be kept, but hidden.

Thanks Zenos, I am not sure if they are hidden or not. All I know is that they come onto the server and then get deleted before they come onto my inbox but it means that they are are either still coming in or too many in the backlog to let me regular emails to get through. I obviously can't stop them being sent (I have unsubscribed) but I wondered if there was any other way to let me regular emails to get through

I suggest you disable email scanning in your anti virus. There are reports from Symantec of occasions when their product causes the same email to be downloaded over and over again. That may be what is happening to you.

Okay, thanks Matt, I'll try that!
