How do I get AT&T mail to work with Thunderbird
I hope someone can help me as I have been researching all day trying to get this to work. I have tried the automatic configuring, the manual configuring and I just cannot get it to work, It doesn't like my password on the outgoing or incoming. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Never-mind, not going to use my AT & T email anyway. Got my Thunderbird working correctly with the only 2 emails I want.

Good for you. My guess is you issue may well have been the firewall component of your anti virus. This is especially so if you are using the McAfee product from ATT. It has been causing issues with email for about 5 years now.

I am not using any McAfee products, I am just convinced that as a new ATT subscriber it is not compatible with Thunderbird.
There are, or have been, issues with the ATT yahoo accounts. but standard ATT account do work for many. Not that I am in a position to test their accounts
I am happy to work with you, but one of the first things I am going to recommend it you disable any email scanning in an anti virus product, reboot your machine and simply try again.
Anti virus product increase your security (sometimes) but they do cause havoc with things that are meant to just work. Including making applications not start at all. Usually the blame goes to the rubbish software that is misbehaving and folk continue to pay good money for sub standard virus protection.
One of the issues we see here are with passwords, because of the "password vault" type arrangements in these same internet suites. They work fine usually till you have to change a password, then they submit the old one until you give up, and again blame the wrong product.
There is nothing to work on. I am done with trying to solve this issue. I was merely pointing out that i don't use McAfee. Thank you anyway.
