In the start up page message payne message display oldest first how can I get the newest messaages to come up at the top of the list.

Messages in the Payne always default to oldest at the top of the list. I would like to set a default that the newest message is at the top of the list. If I sort them they will be that way but every time I start Thunderbird it reverts back to oldest at the top.

Then locate the program that is deleting the session.json file used to store that information. The only one I know of that does it routinely is CCleaner, but there are sure to be others.

Yes that works until you restart Thunderbird. As stated in my question I would like it to default to oldest at the top. Thank you Christ1 for the response.
