It seems the page layout changed in Firefox 39 to be a little taller and many users are losing a row of icons.

The page can be modified with custom style rules, but I don't know whether anyone has put together a working set.

The page also can be modified using an add-on. This is one mentioned in several other threads if you want to give it a try: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/

Oh, I should mention that some users don't mind using zoom, press Ctrl- to shrink the page contents to fit more tiles. If the text isn't too small for you, that might be a useful workaround.

Hi, as mentioned above, you can change the number of tiles on the New Tab Page by zooming in or out (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key).

You may also want to keep the same zoom setting when you select a new tab: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.preload and double click on it to change 'Value' from True to False.

It is also possible in about:config to change the maximum number of tiles by scrolling down to browser.newtabpage.columns (or .rows), then right click > Modify, to set a new number in 'Value.'

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

You can hide the search bar and the margins at the top and bottom with code in the userContent.css file to get more space for tiles.
