Ransomware locks tabs unable to close
This problem is related to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/981475 whereby a website can lock up a tab and use onBeforeUnload to prevent closing.
While surfing the web I was redirected to this website (possibly an ad/popup click somewhere) and any attempts to close the tab bring up the usual page close confirmation and confirming page leave reloads the tab and spawns a duplicate tab.
Shutting down Firefox (either via exit, or system task manager) and restarting brings up the previous session regardless of settings (show homepage, do not restore session).

The bookmarklet created by jscher2000 and posted in the linked question does work though. http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/bookmarklets.html#escape
I'm posting about this again as the relevant bug entry https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=636374 seems to indicate this was fixed, however the issue persists in 34.0.5.
I am new to mozilla so am unsure if this should be logged as another bug and/or how to properly do it.

First Close Firefox any way you can. Reboot the computer. Is there a Firefox icon on your taskbar? Right click and select Open New Window. If Firefox opens normally, close it. That should do it. You might also try this using a desktop shortcut.
This add-on can stop such pages; disallow Script Button {web link} The Disallow Script button looks like a letter "M" and the title is the Minus Script, drag and drop the button on a toolbar. If the button is not displayed then nothing operates, except rules for plugins.
