went to white text on black background after latest automatic update to Thunderbird (128.12 Oesr). I've tried all suggested fixes and can't get black text on white background active again. HOW DO I GET BACK TO NORMAL??

I don't know what you tried, but usually this can be achieved by clicking addon&themes and then clicking the Light theme.

In 'Addons & Themes' what theme are you using ?

'Light' theme should auto use Black text on White background.

If using 'Dark' theme confirm you have the following - post an image of it as it helps.

  • In Settings > General
  • Scroll down to 'Language & Appearance'
  • Click on 'Colours'
  • Set Text to Black'
  • Set Background to White
  • DO NOT select this 'Use System colours'
  • Override the colours....set to 'Never'
  • click on 'OK'
