I had to reinstall Fedora 42 on my Dell XPS 9315. I reinstalled Thunderbird, but it won't open, saying it cannot find my profile. How do I tell the new TB installation where my profile is?

At /home/eric/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird,my profiles.ini file looks like this:

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=z663dkmf.default-release Default=1

[Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=grykcnt2.default-release

[InstallFA9DEAB4CC8E0E14] Default=/home/eric/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird/z663dkmf.default-release Locked=1

[Profile2] Name=Default User IsRelative=0 Path=/home/eric/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird/z663dkmf.default-release == There's also an installs.ini file:

[FA9DEAB4CC8E0E14] Default=/home/eric/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird/z663dkmf.default-release Locked=1

I found another location where there are firefox profiles. Maybe the new installation wants profiles here: /home/eric/.mozilla/firefox

I copied the profiles from the old location (z663* and gryk*). I want z663* to be the new default profile, but when I open profiles.ini at this new location, where I've pasted the two profiles, they do not appear in the file. Likewise when I open firefox -P in the terminal, the profiles do not appear. (All that appear are default-release and default.

This is the profile.ini at the new location:

Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=brhfs3tf.default Default=1

[Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=l7tyr5dg.default-release

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

[Install11457493C5A56847] Default=l7tyr5dg.default-release Locked=1

What's my next step? Thanks.

A reply seemed to disappear, so I'm repeating it here: I found a new location where TB has profiles: ~/.mozilla/firebird. I copied the two profiles that have my stuff to this location. (z663* and gryk*). But they do not show up in the profiles.ini file at that location. Here's that profile.ini:

[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=brhfs3tf.default Default=1

[Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=l7tyr5dg.default-release

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

[Install11457493C5A56847] Default=l7tyr5dg.default-release Locked=1

What's my next step? (I installed TB using the Fedora Software utility.

Please disregard this. So sorry. I think I'm running FF profiles and TB profiles together, or something. Let me sort things out and, if necessary, I'll start a new thread.
