Any longer nothing shows which browser tab is active. I have to click around on the tabs to find which one is active -- I can no longer tell just by looking.

You can search the Add-ons website for a theme that works for you.

Note that you can click the down arrow at the right end of the Tab bar to open the Tab Manager (List all tabs) panel, the current tab is bolded in this panel.
