Cannot create email accounts. tries to check the password and get stuck. Ending in a timeout (obviously) saying its not the right password. Does not let me finish creating accounts settings without providing the password. can only cancel (button) to leave the create account dialog again. After that leaving I dont have any account configured in the Account settings. But If I try again to set up this account, which never was correctly created. I get an error message that the inbox server address is already configured (kind of a stupid error message ?! Why would it matter, that the inbox server adress is already configured, even if I could have configured successful another email with that inbox server address. Is thunderbird suddenly not able to configure more than one email address per inbox server - hopefully not, that would be really stupid - if so one must say, thunderbird has been destroyed by strange programmers... anyway, since my account setting is still completely empty this error message is completely wrong. Where can I find a working thunderbird. I actually dont need this crappy automatic checking dialog - I know the server settings and would like to setup manual and in past I always found a way to setup manually .. now with 68.2.2. this way is gone ? (the manually setup button does not lead anymore to a manual setup without the necessity of automatic checking before the "done" button is activated) Can anyone explain how to configure my email addresses without that useless automatic checking which is not working... ???

Go offline with File/Offline/Work Offline, add the account, then return to online after it's set up. If you have several accounts with the same server, give each one a distinct Account Name.
