TB Support HOTMAIL ACCOUNT (so called OUTLOOK.COM)

more options

TB used to support HOTMAIL account, but starting yesterday can't receive any message and receive error saying server is down and could not be connected "the server have gone down or there may be server problem", there's one more error message before this line but can't see it as faded too fast, could someone assist to resolve this ? or is it something on MS side ?

Thank You

The Outlook.com service went through a lot of changes in 2016, so you probably already updated your server settings in the past 18 months. But I think it's a good idea to go into your account in your web browser and check whether they might have changed the POP/IMAP/SMTP settings again.

For me, that info is on this page: https://outlook.live.com/owa/?path=/options/popandimap

This article will get you to the relevant part of Thunderbird for comparison: Manual Account Configuration.

Note: On Windows, the classic menu bar is hidden by default. Tapping the Alt key or F10 function key should display it temporarily so you can use the Tools menu.

Does your Thunderbird have the currently required settings?

@jscher2000, I did check the outlook setting in browser and all setting are the same as in my setting on TB, as following: imap-mail.outlook.com SSL port 993

but somehow it couldn't connect since yesterday it was still ok in weekend until Monday, and just happened all of sudden

I tried several methods including change server host to outlook.office365.com, but this can't work either.

Did you have any changes or updates in your security software that might require you to give Thunderbird permission to connect on those ports?

Otherwise, hopefully a Thunderbird expert (I'm a very light user) can describe where to look in a console or error log for more detailed troubleshooting information.
