Loading the following github page (a large commit diff) https://github.com/graemeg/freepascal/commit/a62cf155f9f57c80cdd6a7f56baea461c82ab1f3 leads the Firefox to stop responding for a few seconds ~30sec (Appears message Not Responding on title bar).

The CPU goes as high as 30% and memory grows to > 400MB. After some time, the page renders and is possible to scroll although not smooth.

Tried with Safe Mode with the same issue

Loading the same page in Google Chrome the app does not stop responding although the scrolling is slow. The memory usage is also not as high as in Firefox (~200MB)

Using Firefox Dev 48a2 32bit Windows 10 on a quad core i5 (Ivy Bridge) with 8GB of memory The issue also exists in Firefox 46.
