Importing .mbox on Mac
Hi, I backed up my old gmail account from my work email. I no longer have access to that account but wanted to upload the .mbox file into Thunderbird so I can view those old emails. I have a Mac and was hoping for some help. I am running the 38.7.2 version of Thunderbird on my Macbook Air running 10.11.3. Thank you for your help!

Your best bet is probably to install the Thunderbird add-on called ImportExportTools: it should cope with an .mbox file without difficulty.
