how do i fix firefox to work with windows 10 and google mail?

more options

I have windows 10 on a fujitsu laptop. I have used firefox for several years it is my preferred web browser. It will not work properley with windows 10 . There are constant problems activating my gmail account. Firfox is slow and often crashes . This did not ahppen with previous versions of windows. Google chrome does not fare much better, it seems that windows 10 does not like to work with other platforms. I also have Kapersky on the system. Some kind of interaction is slowing things down and causing crashes with firefox. I have checked microsoft parental controls and none are in place as far as i can tell.

But the very basic ability to load and connect to gmail is becoming difficult. I have reduced start up programmes , but the fault remains?

any ideas?

Many thanks

Hi there.

Did you upgrade to Windows 10? That could mess with Firefox (as well as other browsers) and mean it's time to Refresh: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings.

If you installed a fresh Firefox in Windows 10, then Kaspersky may be the cause. They scan SSL encrypted traffic (like Gmail) pretty aggressively and can slow things down - or even cause connections to be rejected (because Kaspersky hijacks encrypted traffic, scans it, then passes it on under its own certificate which no longer matches the original source). Try disabling the Kaspersky Extension in Firefox (go to about:addons and disable anything with "Kaspersky" in its name) and if that doesn't help, find out how you can disable SSL or encrypted connection scanning in your Kaspersky product.

That should get you started.
