Hi,

I am running FF v.28 and have not been able to open up PDF's in a very long time. In fact I don't remember the last time this worked properly. When clicking on a PDF link, the page either opens up blank or nothing happens. I can view PDF's in that other browser without problems. I have tried "various" fixes found on the net but still nothing. I will try removing FF and reinstalling as a last resort. Otherwise I am at my wits end.

Thank you.

A few things:

(1) Your "More System Details" shows two different Adobe PDF plugins (10 series and 11 series). You might need to disable one of those.

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Adobe Acrobat" and set one of them to "Never Activate".

(2) Try changing your viewer.

The settings file that stores actions for files Firefox can't display on its own sometimes gets corrupted, and switching the setting a couple times in the Options dialog can help straighten it out.

This article describes how to access the PDF setting: View PDF files in Firefox or choose another viewer.

Any luck?

A HUGE THANK YOU!! That was very frustrating because I had set various things. Using "Adobe Acrobat" did not work but using "Adobe Acrobat in Firefox" works beautifully.

Thanks again!!
