I can type my searches in the address bar. Why do I need a separate search bar next to it? How do I get rid of it? And, I can't find the RSS Feeds button anymore. And, one more thing - your "help" button ought to be replaced with a "this is NO help" button...

"Now do you know a way to control the length of the URL address area? Doesn't seem to have a shrink/expand thingie at the end."

That control is rendered inoperative when the Location Bar and the Search Bar are no longer in their original position. You can use some userChrome.css code to fix the length or the Location Bar.

 #urlbar {
max-width: 600px !important;
}

Use whatever number you want for the size of the Location Bar window,

If you are not familiar the the 3 "user" files that can be used in Firefox, it is easiest to use this extension for adding that code to the userChrome.css file.

If you hide the Search Bar, you'll be hiding the means of selecting a different Search Engine in the Location Bar / URL Bar.

As of Firefox 23, the search engine that is selected in the Search Bar is the search engine used in all three places in the UI - the URL Bar, the Search Container on the default Homepage - about:home - and the Search Bar.

Many of us are expecting that the Search Bar will be replaced by a "selector toolbar button" to select the desired search engine, in Firefox 27 or 28.

The Subscribe button for RSS feeds is in the Customize Palette. Open Customize and drag ths button to a toolbar.

Thank you, dragging into the "holding " area worked fine. Now do you know a way to control the length of the URL address area? Doesn't seem to have a shrink/expand thingie at the end. Thanks for your help!

I appreciate the tip but I don't see that as a problem.

______ The RSS button was right where you said - and I thought that was how it worked. I think I just clicked instead of dragged before so it didn't take hold. This time, voila! Thank you.
