I have done everything suggested to get Java to function properly in Firefox. Please do not send canned suggestions. I have already gone through it all.
Java will not work in one of the essential programs I need. And, yes, I have the latest version (7-15) and yes I have deleted it and installed it twice, and yes, I have deleted old versions of Java, and yes I have deleted the cache in both Java and Firefox and yes I have enabled it to run every time I am asked and yes to any other solution that has been suggested.
The program ran on Friday, using Java as it should. But on Tuesday, it was broken again.
It seems like Firefox ran some sort of "fix" and I have no idea what it was doing. I DO NOT like Firefox running "fixes" without my knowledge and approval. But since that message appeared and I got sidetracked to a Firefox splash screen instead of my usual home page on opening, nothing has worked correctly with this one particular program I need to use that requires Java.
Thank you.

Do you see an icon on the location bar to indicate that Firefox is blocking the Java plugin?
Do the Java test pages work?
All the tests ran properly.
It is a synchronous web-based classroom that will not function in Firefox. It did once, then broke with the Java scare, then it was fixed (by running all the suggested fixes) and it ran Friday. Now it won't run.
Very strange.
Thank you for your help.

You can try to clear the Java cache:
- http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000020300.xml - How do I clear the Java cache?
- Control Panel > Java > General tab > "Temporary Internet Files" > Settings > Delete Files
