Hi michaelmalmborg.
is this article of any help: Recover lost or missing Bookmarks ?
More info here: Finding your bookmarks
and here: Lost Bookmarks
Hope I helped you!
Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

You can also try to reboot the computer or run Firefox once as Administrator.
Thank you alco, but I've done all the above, No bookmarks. No history. And if I click on a link on a web page, I can't go back... back arrow i dimmed.
It's like the movie 50 first dates, with Firefox playing Drew's character. And I'm Sandler.
Seriously, had too much problem with Firefox lately and I'm thing on switching anyway.
But it will be hard... has been using it for almost 20 years now!
have been, I mean;-)
Did you try to delete the places.sqlite file?
Yea this happened to me and I almost lost it.Here's what fixed it for me. The firefox 18.0.2 creates a new profile. So you need to run profile manager and sign into your old profile. And all my bookmarks, extensions, etc were back.
