Firefox randomly crashes with no appearent reason
I can have several tabs open and be in a chat room chatting away and all of a sudden FF will just crash. It crashes then restarts and all my tabs are back. There is no warning. This was happening on 17.0.1 and now that 18 has been released its happened with it as well.
I have created another profile loaded no addons into it and it sill has crashed.randomly. I am at a loss as to what to do next to troubleshoot.

Thank but the mozzila crash reporter doesn't show up. The bulk of the other questions are not applicable. I have done safe mode and it still crashes. I am on a clean install of win 7 with the most updated windows drivers.
This is totally random there is no indication its going to crash. I can be typing into a forum post like this and all of a sudden boom it crashes and it restarts. I can be in a chat room and boom it crashes. I can just be like on a webpage and boom it crashes. It happens at the most 2x's in one day then it can be several days before it happens again.
Ok, empty your cash and clean the cookies of the browser then creat a new profile then tell me what happened
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:
- bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
- You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

As I stated the mozillia crash reporter is not launching when FF crashes. I did state that in my reply to the first reply.
Here is a crash id from 1-6/13
bp-71668690-2435-440a-b5f4-2086c2130109
It actually crashed 2x's today not sure why crash ids aren't being generated.
Unfortunately the linked crash report has an [@ EMPTY] signature and does not provide useful crash data that makes it possible to tell something about the cause.
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Well I got fed up with it crashing so much. I uninstalled and reinstalled it 2x's today and it kept crashing. I got rid of it and switched to google chrome.
No issues what so ever with Chrome. Sorry to have to switch but it was getting worse. At first it would crash once then it would be days or so before it crashed again even a week. Now it got to be 2x 4x a day. and this is on a clean install with updated video drivers and such.
I didn't get a chance to try to disable hardware acceleration as I lost a post I was making on a forum that I was working on for 15 mins. I had no copy of the text I entered into the form. It was a royal pita to loose that post.
