Firefox for Android no longer has this feature, because you can easily access your most used sites right from the home page :)

AFAIK there is no way to change the homepage on Android, currently. Why set a bookmark to get there?

The awesome bar is ok, and the bookmarks too... but they don't fill the need for a custom start page. We have it in Firefox Desktop and in all other browsers, it's a basic feature! :-(

I am very annoyed that Firefox Mobile opens to the last page visited. I ALMOST NEVER want to go to that page on startup. In fact it's a big pain especially when that page happened to be one that TOOK FOREVER to load. Removing the home page on startup feature was a GIANT step backward in usability.

PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE. Put this feature back in.

keshavmishra please don't make promises for the mobile team.

Firefox opens to a lightweight Java UI. We don't have a html rendering during the early phases of startup. Opening to a page would be a significant regression in startup time.

kbrosnan,

Your statement makes no sense to me. This issue I'm complaining about is that Firefox Mobile IS taking a very long time to startup. It seems to be loading the last web page I visited. It might be loading from cache but it is taking what seems like a long time before I can do anything. I can't stop the load 'X' or access the Cache or Top Sites '+'. All I ask is that it load a page of my choice, which would likely also be in cache.

At a minimum I'd rather it just start to a blank screen and then at least I could use the Top Sites display to select where I want to go. I'd think that would cut the startup time dramatically. Or maybe just start to the top sites display.

Really lame we cannot set desired home page. Would expect that from M$ or Apple, not Firefox.

That said...

Add desired page to favorites, find in favorites, long press, select Add to home screen, use newly added shortcut to open Firefox with your "home" page.

Hope that helps. Worked for me.

Update: Would be real nice if someone on the forum could sticky this or add the reply to the several other posts asking the same question.

I love Firefox, but really?! No homepage?!! REALLY??!! Dumbest decision ever, Mozilla. Deleted the app seconds after realizing this. I'm going back to Dolphin. Let me know if/when you regain your sanity.

Hi,

The problem you're having is to do with not exiting the app properly. If you press the android menu button then press "quit" , the next time Firefox opens you will get the standard about:home page open (which is quick).

If you just switch out of the app and then reopen it later (even next day) it will reload the last site you had open. It is trying to save the state it was last in as if it's still been open. Only problem is it has to reload the last website to do this which sometimes can take a while to do.

Personally I find it a little irritating too but it makes sense why it does this.
