How do I transfer Firefox bookmarks across computers with a DVD?

I've just built a new computer and I don't know how to transfer all my Firefox bookmarks from my old computer to my new. The old computer works, but the only way I have for connecting the two is through a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. Therefore, to transfer my bookmarks, I need to find out if there is a convenient way copying them to removable storage which I can then use to reinstall them on Firefox on my new computer. I figure this procedure is so common that there is probable a set way of doing it. Thank you for your attention.

Open your profile on old machine, copy the latest .json file from the bookmarkbackups folder onto a USB thumb drive and then restore on new machine.

  1. "Ctrl+Shift+B" -- Bookmarks Library list
  2. "Import and Backup" > Restore > Choose File > ...

alternative:

You could replace your new profile with your old profile, I had far too much stuff to regenerate everything on a fresh system. You could put many profile backups on a USB thumb drive, so one is not a problem.

You can take a look at this guide on bookmarks in firefox 7. It's a picture guide so it's easy to find all the options and buttons you have to click to do it. It will also show you how to import the bookmarks into your new browser. Hope it helps!
