just a maybe.... in the address list, is the entry "all address books" showing as selected.

If you have no address list on the left in the compose window, press F9 to turn it on before trying to see what book is listed.

Turned on yes and can see all google contacts on side bar on left side vertically. I have to drag each contact into the send field every time still.

2. Restart in troubleshooting mode from the help menu. Does the fill work then?

Are you referring to "autocomplete", described at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/addressing-email#w_adding-recipients-from-your-address-book ?

Thanks Wayne, this is clear however once I have typed or selected an email contact address and have sent the email, later when sending again it never remembers any address previously sent so I have to locate the address from the contact list on the left side every time and add it. In the past as I type a name it should come up for me to select as if it remembers it and it no longer does this. Thank you.

So you confirm that address autocomplete is not working. Address autocomplete happens when you type an address in the compose window and it offers several matching possibilities.

Does proper function return after doing Help > Troubleshoot mode?

Still does not work after starting up in Troubleshoot Mode or Help-Troubleshoot etc...

Result!!! I ensured the default start up address book was ALL ADDRESSES which it was before, however I moved all addresses from Google to Personal and it now works! Thank you for all your help Matt and Wayne!!! When I type in a letter all the email addresses beginning with that letter come up for me to select, thank you again!

Glad you had a good result.

1. Is "Google" is a local address book for you? If yes, then autocomplete should have worked. If you had local address books enabled.

2. Or, is "Google" is created for you by an addon? Then it might not be a local address book.

And what do you see in Settings > Composition ?

1. Ticked local address book and now showing thank you!

In Settings - Comp I can now see addresses appearing in all addres sbooks so resolved, thank you again for all your help!
