Keep getting "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible"

I installed Thunderbird and linked it to one of my rackspace accounts and all worked well. Emails synced well with the servers. Then tried to import my outlook pst files and used mailstore as it was recommend -- folks said thunderbird import of pst didn't work well. I imported it into one of the 2 default profiles offered. Kabang everything crashed including mozilla! Neither would open.

So read about locked parent files and deleted the mozilla and thunderbird ones and mozilla came back - thunderbird not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird, reinstalled the 2 default profiles, created new profiles. Now thunderbird does not appear in windows uninstall and i have to hunt it down to get rid of it and apparently I can't find all of its parts. But it always comes back as the ghost default email program as I made it the default email app before I tried to import the pst files. dumb me.

How can I wipe thunderbird clean, reinstall, and get my outlook 2007 pst files into it. Your help would be endlessly appreciated. -- jim
