The AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles file in C:\Users fills up with 22,000 temp files amounting to over 1000Mb of data. I remove them all but they are back to the same astronomical level within days
Update: I did a bit more digging. I cleared all the files using Glary Utilities and then went on-line with Firefox. When I logged off after a short while I saw that one file, p9eb9k0b.default-1426092287996-1511334894618, had been created in Profiles. This contained 3470 files amounting to 166Mb. This comprised mostly 3383 files 140Mb in cache2/entries
This seems highly excessive and, with several sessions a day, I can see why I get to 1000Mb in a few days

If you go to the about:config
page in Firefox, you can set the size of the cache that Firefox stores on your system.
The browser.cache.disk.capacity
preference is the size that Firefox can use and browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled
allows Firefox to chose the optimum size. The maximum that you can use is 1GB.
The cache is generally beneficial for enhancing the performance of computer programs, so unless you really need to save the space on your system, I'd recommend leaving it as is. Firefox will overwrite and remove some files if it's necessary.
Note that profile with one or two time stamps appended are profiles that were created as the result of using the refresh feature in Firefox.
