Playing Video (live TV) after a period of time 1.) the cache size grows to 1GB+ 2.) the Computer Fans start working in TURBO mode - very noisy - (ASUS Mobo Z87 Pro CPU Intel 64 Family i5 Core 4 4670K 16GB RAM). as a result, a) I have to close the Firefox b) Use CCleaner of CCleaner.com (always auto-updated to the last version). This started with late Versions of Firefox. I am not an expert, but my main concern is not the noise, but the use of System Disc (C). which is a Intel SSD of 111GB (nominal 120) with only 17.xGB left free (thanks to Windows 10 Pro). Apart of the size left free, if I am not wrong, I have read that writing-deleting in this kind of disks make their life sort. I thought that may be possible to direct the Firefox Cache to a HDD I use for storage. I will appreciate your helping me in this respect. Thank you in advance, irrespective of the final outcome. This is a Grate Browser, after all. 30Fyllos

You can set the path to the Firefox disk cache via this pref on the about:config page. You need to create this pref as a new String pref.

  • browser.cache.disk.parent_directory

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Everything went perfect. Care should be given from novices like me when adding the new string, the same popup window comes back empty, I repeated the entry of the string and I finished with a new string with a value same as it's name. At the second popup is the moment to fill in the directory. e.g. Disk:\folder., in my case "E:\FF Cache". I made the modification and after restart and first run of FF the cache2 folder was created (i.e. E:\FF Cache\cache2). For those who use a cleaning program like me (CCleaner) may have to include the "new directory" (i.e. E:\FF Cache\cache2) in the custom list of Folder of files to be deleted. I have once more to say thank you for the help. 30Fyllos PS. Sorry, I don't know how to mark the problem SOLVED.
