Hi! If YouTube videos play but there is no sound in Firefox, even though the tab and video aren't muted, there are a few things worth checking.
First, try these quick checks:
Open another website with audio to see whether the problem is specific to YouTube or affects all websites.
Check your operating system's volume mixer and make sure Firefox isn't muted or assigned to the wrong audio output device.
On YouTube, make sure the video isn't muted and the volume slider is turned up.
Try Firefox Troubleshoot Mode: ☰ → Help → Troubleshoot Mode…. This temporarily disables extensions and some customizations. If audio works there, an extension is likely interfering.
Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Autoplay → Settings… and make sure YouTube is allowed to play audio.
If you use Bluetooth headphones or multiple audio devices, check that the correct output device is selected by your operating system.
If audio works normally in another browser but not Firefox, please tell us your operating system, Firefox version, and whether Firefox has no sound on all websites or only YouTube. That will help narrow down the cause.
