I place SpamAssassin at the bottom of the message filter list. The next time I get messages that are suppose to be filtered to a folder but are in the Junk, I look and SpamAssassin is back at the top of the list again. WHY???????????

do you have trust headers set by spamassasin set in your account settings?

That setting creates a "temporary" filter so you might want to turn it off.

yes, I had those turned on. Now it is non-functional because it won't work the way I want it to work.

Don't you think is would be more functional if that filter were automatically placed at the bottom of the list. As configured now, it pre-emps any filter I set that conflicts with its database.

NOT A GOOD THING if you have to disable it because of the way it works and lose any good functionality it has.

Not really, because by default you should be able to tune spamassassin such that you fully trust it
