After a full format and re-installation of files and programs, I ended up with a hijack called feed.helperbar.com that has not been found by 7 antivirus/malware programs and refreshing Firefox numerous times. I have tried every "fix" I could find online and still no luck. I can't even search for anything and if I click the search tab in Options, it won't open that feature. This has gone on now for 7 days of constant trying to fix. Does anyone know how to get rid of this issue from Firefox v39.0 and my computer running Windows 7?

Thank you,

Steven

BTW, you need to get rid of whatever carried that garbage on to your PC, otherwise it will just reinfect you all over again, usually when you turn your PC on or restart it.

That page says "For example, when you install the “Fast Free Convertor” program, you will also agree to change your browser homepage to feed.helperbar.com and set the default search engine to http://browse-search.com." But the name of the program might be entirely different. Basically anything in Programs and Features in the Control Panel, should be suspect of you installed it just prior to discovering that "infection". If you recall installing it or don't need it or have any doubts about it - get rid of it.

I did everything on that page and it didn't resolve the issue... :(

Sorry that didn't help you. And a whole 30 minutes to cover everything on that page including steps 3 to 5. I don't think my new PC is fast enough to have been able to run all three of those anti-malware applications and give me the results that quickly.

Might be the time to seek out a support forum with people who primarily deal with malware, adware, and spyware. http://www.spywarewarrior.com/index.php http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/ http://bleepingcomputer.com

Thank you for the links. I did all of that yesterday and it took hours including many other things I have tried. I will post to the forums you have suggested.

Thank you again.
