can not send emails but can receive emails

I cannot send emails using Thunderbird but can receive emails. I have deleted Thunderbird and re-installed it - same issue. I can log in to my email provider with no issues. I am using Hughes.net Firewall is Symantec ver 12.1.671.4971 Antivirus Spybot ver 2.4.40 Windows 7 professional Thunderbird ver 24.3.0 I was able to create an account on my wife's laptop without any issues. It has to be something in my Laptop.... Mike
