I have tried all options given but none worked and since Firefox conducted a security update, I have lost ALL bookmarks!

I have tried the many different solutions (if not all or at least most) given by Mozilla for retrieving my bookmarks and none of them work. My bookmarks went missing after a security download/update from Firefox. I have many, many bookmarks and I do need the majority of them! What am I to do now? This is very disappointing as I so enjoy Firefox and have used it happily for years. Kindly help me with this situation as I can not even imagine trying to recall and re-bookmark them all. I can't say I would even trust bookmarks anymore. Thank you for your help...I am not a tech wizard but have tried what the site suggested.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Are there multiple profiles present on the hard drive?

Did you check if you still use the profile that you previously used in case a new default profile got created?

I am sorry to say that absolutely none of the above retrieved by bookmarks! Now what? This is very disconcerting and I am desperate to retrieve years of bookmarks!

I also have to add that this all happened after Firefox version 28.0 was updated...very disappointed.

You only have one Firefox profile folder in the default location?

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Note that the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.

Do you have JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder?

Do you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop?
