Google Earth Plugin ERR_CREATE_PLUGIN on Aurora

When running the Google Earth Plugin (either 6.2.2.6613 or 7.1.1.1888) I get the following error (100 ERR_CREATE_PLUGIN):

There was a problem with the Google Earth Plugin. Exit the browser completely (Cmd-Q on Mac; Alt-F x on Windows), then re-open this page to see it in action. If that doesn't help, you can re-install the Google Earth Plugin using this link.

I'm currently using Aurora 26.0a2 - the last working version I know of was Aurora 25.0a2. Does anyone know of a reason why that would be the case?
