"I'm running Firefox 20.0.1 on a Dell 660s under Windows 7 Premium. I downloaded and installed Firefox in May. I can't seem to get it to update to 21.0 for the following reason:

"Available Update" window for Firefox 21.0 pops up daily. I click on Update Firefox and "Downloading Firefox" window pops up with "Connecting to update server..." notification. This continues to run, sometimes for hours (when I forget about it) but it never finishes. I eventually cancel it and it happens again the next day.

Make sure your Antivirus is not blocking the download

Disable your Antivirus and give a try..

Are you using Proxy server?

Try to download from the Mozilla official website and update it.

I downloaded the update directly from Mozilla and it worked fine. I will check the other suggestions to see if I can determine why the update didn't work when initiated by Firefox.

Thanks, I appreciate the quick response.
