I have Mozilla for years and it has always worked fine or when there was a problem, it was easy to fix. However, in the last week or so Mozilla has been running incredibly slow. The websites take minutes to load completely and usually Mozilla stops responding. I've tried everything to fix it including re-installing Mozilla, going into safe mode with add-ons disabled, updating every add-on, disabling every plugin, restarting Mozilla, clearing browsing data, unchecking use hardware accelerator, and follow troubling shooting guides for about:config, but nothing has worked. I also made sure there was no virus or anything and completely scanned my computer, went into windows safe mode, and restored my computer to an earlier point. My computer itself isn't running slowly, just Mozilla. Videos on youtube also take forever to load and often freeze throughout the duration, but I've tried updated flash, etc. I just don't know what else to try to make Mozilla run normal again.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, #p#ly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
