Whenever I click on Home every previously closed tab reappears. I've cleared all history to no avail. What gives?

For the last week or so, every time I click on the Home icon for my homepage previously closed tabs from previously closed sessions all reappear. I have cleared the history and closed Firefox over and over without those tabs but they keep reappearing whenever I click the Home icon. How do I get this to stop?
