I cannot uninstall Firefox. I get a warning: uninstaller.exe has been detected as W32.Dropper then the threat is quarantined.
I want to uninstall firefox in order to troubleshoot some computer problems. My virus scanner will not let the uninstaller.exe continue and states that it has been detected as a W32.Dropper then it quarantines the program. It also states that Au_.exe is also detected as a W32.Dropper and quarantines that as well.
How am I supposed to uninstall this program? I attempted to perform the uninstall manually as instructed at your website, but that also brought up the virus warning and put a halt to the process.

The Firefox uninstaller is the file helper.exe in the uninstall folder in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe).
What is the location of that uninstaller.exe file?

cor-el, I am not sure I understand your question. I am attempting to uninstall the program via control panel then add/remove programs, then highlight Mozilla and click on remove. I ran a "search" on uninstaller.exe and came up with C:/WINDOWS/Prefetch. I am not sure if these answer your question. Thanks.
Try to delete that file in the Window Prefetch folder to see if that helps.
It may be a left over form an older Firefox version and in that case you may also need to remove the associated uninstall registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Mozilla Firefox (????)
