all web sits show up a a blank page for a day it was only a few know there is nothing

for one day only search engines where showing up as a blank page. the web address was correct and it said it was done but there was still a blank page. know none of the web sites work they all show up blank. i know its not the cable company because my laptop works fine with firefox it is not effected at all. so how do i fix this problem i think its something to do with settings but all these other help support pages say its add-on 1 i dont have any 2 i fallowed the directions on how to remove them etc.... but its still not working!!!
