How do I get rid of the dropdown list history on the location bar? I have tried changing several settings and all I have done is mess up my ability to open ZIP downloads.

I wanted to clear the drop down suggestions/history list on the location bar so I went to Tools/Options and tried changing several settings. I could not get the results I wanted. Suggestions?

I did get one unwanted result -- or maybe just a coincidence. I received an email with attached pictures in a ZIP format and I could not get the download to open. Suggestions?

Are you suggesting that I don't use the Location ("Awesome") Bar if I don't want anything listed in the dropdown list? OK, I can live with that if so. But I would still like to remove the listings already there. Any ideas?

Sorry, ignore previous post. I got what you were saying.

However, I notice that I can still bring up the old "history" by reverting that setting to any of the others. Is there anyway to permanently remove that info. so that it can't be brought back?

That is part of the browser history, so you would have to disable the history to avoid seeing any items in the drop down list. Disabling the history will however cause links on websites that you have visited from appearing as visited.
