Hi there,

my question concerns a change listed in the Thunderbird 91 release notes:

"AutoComplete from LDAP directories now searches by substring instead of left-side match"

With Thunderbird 91.0.3, I use an LDAP server with over 20,000 entries at my workplace. In Thunderbird 78 it was still the case that the more precisely an address was entered, the more precisely it was entered correctly using autocomplete. Since version 91 I find the LDAP search to be very ineffective and cumbersome. So I would like to ask whether the LDAP search can be brought up to date with earlier versions of Thunderbird? Perhaps there is a value in the advanced configuration setting that changes the LDAP search and autocomplete?

Many greetings,

Ali

There is a preference mailnews.ldap.jsmodule which if set to false will invoke the old C++ code for LDAP, but It appears there is intent to remove the old code so it may only be a stop gap.

Use the config editor to edit the preference, or add it as required.
