Been having issues with a popular website tv.xfinity.com where I'm unable to have Firefox keep my session/cookie info for longer than the browser window being open. If I close the window and/or reload Firefox my session dies. I have tested this with Internet explore, Google chrome, Safari, Opera, and Microsoft edge with no issues at all. This started happening about 2-3 months that I can recall. I have tried to disable all my addons I have also attempted using different computers different operating systems with no luck.

What is your computer system and Firefox?

It sounds like your cookies are being removed.

History and cookies can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings; (Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

The computer is running Windows 7, there are no disk cleaners on the computer. I can install one and check since it is a fresh install with only the operating system, steam, and Office installed.

I have checked the privacy settings and they all appear to be the default settings Firefox comes with. I have made sure it is setup to always remember everything, accept cookies from sites that I have visited and keep them until they expire. The clear history on Firefox close option is not checked.

This is the only website I appear to be having issues with, other sites are working fine I have had no issues with the site until version 46 of Firefox.

Remove History For One Site Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.
