I would like to install addblock plus through the command line and or programmatically on ubuntu 14.04. How can this be done?

Yes, I have checked that link.

That is where I meant that the steps documented no longer worked. I have tried uncompressing and pasting the extension to /usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions/ which is seems to be the right place in ubuntu 14.04.

However the extension is still not detected.

Finally, I need to deploy this in ubuntu server and cannot start the firefox UI. An need a scriptable way to make the installation that does not require inteaction with the UI (As background I am using firefox with selenium through Xvfb).
