I logged on to mozilla and an unknown homepage called binkiland popped up. I tried redownloading mozilla and it was still there. I logged onto internet explorer and it popped up also. I refreshed mozilla and it was gone, but now when I search all these mysterious pop ups and add show up. How could I get rid of them and should I be worried?

hi luisarreola92, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware on your pc.

  1. please go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
  2. also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.
  3. finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner, which are specialised in adware and browser hijackers.

Hello luisarreola92, try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

* Microsoft Safety Scanner * MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware * Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller * AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page) * Hitman Pro * ESET Online Scanner

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Also, check in your win 7 programs and delete anything suspicious, go from : "Start" button > "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features" > highlight any malicious program > "Uninstall".

EDIT : see philipp's above reply [philipp sorry one more time, again i did not see the notification note in time.....i think i'm getting older......]

HI, Binkiland.com is classified as a browser redirect virus or say browser hijacker. It can install itself on your Internet browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari without any consent. Then, it starts to modify your browser settings, which causes the changes of your default homepage and search engine. Only re-downloading and re-installing your Firefox cannot completely get rid of this redirect virus from your PC. Here I suggest following this guide to remove this nasty redirect virus:
