Since the Thunderbird update of 30 Sept the ability to attached files to my emails has 'vanished'. I press the attach 'button' but there is no response. Never had this as a problem before. I am running Windows 11 home version. Help!

multiple problems with thunderbird handling gmail accounts

For the last few months (several updates to Thunderbird) we are having a terrible time with our gmail accounts in Thunderbird. I am not that tech savvy, but so far nothing has worked (including a Thunderbird uninstall and reinstall). All server settings appear fine, and set to OAuth. We get random extra folders, random deleted folders, trouble with getting copies to sent mail (subscribe OK; have to go to Google's webmail site). This ONLY appears to be a problem with our iMac (M1 chip), and is not occurring with our Macbook Air (M2 chip). I've attempted a few other suggestions thrown up online, but I'm reluctant to tamper too much, and we are increasingly forced to rely on the Google webmail site for adequate function while on the iMac (again, MacBook Air is mostly OK).
