OS: Win7; FF18.0.1 with epubreader; .XUL file extension associated with Firefox in Control Panel. When I d/l an ebook from Project Gutenberg, the file is saved as "reader.XUL". Double clicking "reader.XUL" produces error:

"Remote XUL This page uses an unsupported technology that is no longer available by default in Firefox."

Does "by default" mean that I can change that behavior? If so, how?

Thank you, ideato, for your quick reply. I did this: 1) Installed Remote XUL Manager add-on in FF18.0.1; 2) Added www.gutenberg.org to the white list; 3) Deleted the old <reader.xul > file from Downloads directory; 4) Shut down and restarted my computer, to be sure the registry was updated (if necessary); 5) D/l'd the same file again from Gutenberg; and 6) Tried to open the new < reader.xul > file, both by clicking on its name and by using File > Open File... in FF.

Unfortunately, I got the same error message. Also unfortunately, I don't understand all the command line stuff in <Using Remote XUL>.

I find no Options for Remote XUL Manager, other than the whitelist. I can find nothing in FF>Tools>Options or in Win7>Control Panel that looks related to this problem.

I can always d/l an ebook in HTML format, but I prefer epub format, because 1) it is a smaller file; and 2) I find it easier to read. Ebooks in epub format are always d/l'd (from Gutenberg) as < reader.xul >, and I can find no way to change that.
