App tabs require refreshing to bring page to current. App tabs open only the last page visited on the applicable website.

Åpp tabs behave just like normal tabs and are reloaded from the cache on a next start.
They are also not preserved (protected) against opening a link in that same tab.
If you want to reload App tabs on a next start then you can consider to use Clear Recent History to clear the cache if you close Firefx.
