Firefox is not allowing me to add text to a verizon website

Firefox does not let me add text to my verizon website. This adding text feature works well on internet explorer. I can click on add text, the box opens up but I can not type in the box for some unknown reason. What can be done to correct this problem. Operating system is Vista Home Premium.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you have personal or business website hosted with Verizon, and you're using Verizon's online editor to edit one of your pages.

Is this a new problem you've had since upgrading to Firefox 4, or a problem with all versions of Firefox that you've tried?

Does Verizon say whether its editor supports Firefox?

If it is supposed to work, perhaps one of your add-ons is interfering somehow? You could test in Firefox's Safe Mode.

First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see Backing up your information.

Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox Safe Mode. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.

Does that fix it?

Yes, I do have a personal website hosted by Verizon and I am using the Verizon online editor. I have had this site for 5 years now and off and on tried to use firefox to work on the site and have never been able to do it. Internet explorer lets me do all the editing I want, but I use firefox as my default browser and would like to not change browsers just to do the website.

I tried your suggestion above and still have the same problem. Verizon offers no information about using firefox.

It just seems odd that the add text box opens but will not let me type in my text.

Do you have any other thoughts as to what is going on???

I didn't search before, but "you are not alone" (the thread In Verizon's Sitebuilder for webpages, I can not edit text boxes when using Firefox. I do not have this problem if I use Internet Explorer. Is there a setting I can change in Firefox to correct this problem? has 18 votes for "I have this problem, too).

I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.

If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.

If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.

Thank you very much for your time and efforts in looking for a solution to this aggravating glitch. This is not my only problem with Verizon. I guess I will just continue using Internet Explorer when editing my website and use Firefox for everything else.

Keep up the good work my friend.
