Mozilla Firefox is failing to stay connected to gmail and other websites this week (03/15/2022)

The problem appears to have started with 64-bit version 98.0.1

Do you have a patch?

I have a similar problem. When I go to Zynga (Words with Friends) from Facebook, it logs me off within a few seconds. Must be a setting somewhere, I've deleted cookies for both facebook and Zynga with no change.

Hi j.hall1975

Detail like websites remembering you and log you in automatically is stored in cookies, so make sure you aren't clearing important cookies.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you.

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" keeps cookies with an allow exception
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear cookies clears all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"

Hi meazman

Could you please start a new thread for your question?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed add-ons.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

That's super helpful advice but not for a large business with hundreds of employees. When Firefox updates, major websites like Gmail should still work. I understand that if Google changes their site and then it stops working in Firefox... that's Google's problem. But Firefox updated and now Gmail does not stay connected... that's Firefox making itself unusable, forcing us to switch to Chrome until Firefox is fixed.

Putting in an exception or workaround is labor intensive and introduces security holes or problems resulting from a non-standard configuration later. This is the workaround that works, and it only works by creating a security hole in about:config... https://appuals.com/ssl-error-bad-mac-alert/ I'm not willing to do that for our entire company.

That's why I am asking for a bug fix prior to the next scheduled release on April 5th of version 99. For all I know, version 99 will have this same problem.
