search engine does not work- cannot use dropdown to shorten address contact

Could you give an example of what you mean by shortening address contact or time to find address? Normally Firefox's address bar shows four or more types of suggestions in the drop-down as you type: * matches in your browsing history * matches in your bookmarks * matches in your search history * search suggestions retrieved from your default search engine * matches among open tabs (if any) More info on that: [[Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox]]
